Analysis of Thin Wall Structures for Energy Absorption Applications by ABAQUS

Crash-dynamics research has always concentrated significantly in the safety, survivability of passengers a car crash. To identify capability energy absorption crash box, thin-walled structure will be modeled and simulated by ABAQUS software. Investigate influence material, cross-sectional, thickness factors on capacity tube, using MCDM – Multi-Criteria Decision-Making to get best option testing improvement while filling tube with Foam material. In this study, beside aluminum alloys steel materials are that evaluation criteria, foam material difference density surveyed compare effectiveness between foam-filled hollow crashboxes. The results show folds after deformation along compressive direction more continuous stable. More, higher density, greater absorption. This prevents crashbox from deviating force, help directing collapse thereby improving without increasing weight structure.
